The Defense Production Act (DPA), together with the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 (IRA), creates a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reduce energy bills for everyday Americans, bolster national energy security, spur domestic clean energy manufacturing capacity, create good-paying jobs and deliver meaningful progress in the fight against climate change.
The Inflation Reduction Act is full of incentives to help you and your family go electric. But there’s a lot to explore and understand, from electric appliances you may not even know about yet to the best way to structure your electric journey for maximum savings.
Years of disruption — by heat waves, wildfires, mudslides and the COVID-19 pandemic — have demonstrated that California’s schools are not equipped to keep students safe and healthy. Aging HVAC systems cannot filter wildfire smoke or viruses, so schools close and students fall behind. Students in schools without HVAC systems altogether face even worse outcomes.

Congressional energy investments will empower American families to electrify their homes and save money on their energy bills, all while combating inflation, foreign energy dependence and climate change.
To meet our climate goals, we’ll need to deliver two to three times as much electricity as today. Fortunately, we’ve scaled the grid faster than this before and can do it again. Smart grid technologies can allow more electricity to be delivered by the same infrastructure, reducing the amount of new grid build-out and increasing resilience. Smart electric panels can enable whole home electrification, including EVs and heat pumps, largely without upgrading upstream infrastructure like wires or transformers, cutting the cost and time required for electrification.
We applaud President Biden for his decisive action to advance American energy independence and climate leadership by invoking the Defense Production Act to boost the domestic manufacturing capacity for heat pumps, solar panels and building insulation.
